“I Believe in Miracles!”

For those who may not know, my mom’s Inflammatory Breast Cancer metastasized (spread to other parts of the body) a few months ago. Her first encounter with Breast Cancer was in October of 2008, my senior year of high school. The entire process of chemo, radiation and finally surgery, lasted about a year. Then a this past October she was having some issues that led us to find out that the same cancer cells had come back. The disease had not only reappeared in the form of 4 tumors among st the organs in her abdomen , but also in the presence of her bones. She immediately started chemo- hard chemo- 2 weeks on 1 week off (as long as her white blood cell count was high enough).

Chemotherapy is like a poison that has all different side effects that counteract with every drug that’s in your system already. It means headaches, nausea, increased heart rate, tiredness, awful random leg or arm pains, and sometimes hair loss (luckily not this most recent round). BUT even though the chemo may be killing some good cells, God has allowed this all worth it. Healing WILL come. Healing HAS come.

Got any doubt that God answers prayers?

This is the emil that my mom sent out to all the Bridgeport Middle School staff titled “I Believe in Miracles!”

I want to Praise the Lord for the positive results of my PET Scan from this Mon. Jan. 30 2012!
My initial scan on Nov. 7th 2011 showed a very large mass of lymph nodes covering almost my entire mid upper abdomen. There were numerous metastasis in the lymph nodes throughout my body. Also noted was widespread metastatic disease in the bones. CANCER seemed to fill my body.

Yesterday, the oncologist read me the results of my scan from Monday, Jan. 30th. It stated,
“Dramatic resolution” of metastatic disease. Dramatic decreased FDG activity in the abdomen…

WOW! Isn’t it amazing! In 2 1/2 months time, The measurable evidence of cancer in my abdomen showed, “dramatic resolution.” No new lesions were noted and no growth noted in any area.
Miracles still happen today! I told the Dr. and nurse that I serve a big God and had lots of people praying
for me. He is the great healer! I believe that the reduction of my cancer cells is a direct result of the many prayers said on my behalf. Thanks for your continued prayers. God isn’t finished with me yet. I believe He has wondrous plans for my future. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, pans to give you hope and a future.”

The chemo drugs I have been taking, have been hard hitting, both to the cancer cells and to the other cells, as it doesn’t differentiate between cancer cells and healthy cells. As result, the chemo has greatly lowered my WBC’s and I have been taking injections to boost my white blood counts. Even after having 4 days of injections after my chemo on the 19th and no chemo last week, my WBC’s were too low to have my chemo treatment yesterday. I will be taking more injections this week, in order to raise my WBC’s enough to take more chemo next week.

Though the days ahead are uncertain, I know God will be with me and give me strength for every step of my journey.
Blessing to you and your families!

Cindy

AH-MA-ZING.

God is SO good.

It just hit me.

I miss home.

I called my mom this morning on the way to school. I needed to see if I could possibly meet up with her for lunch or something on Friday because I need to go by the house to get a board game for this weekend and also to get some rent money for next month. Suddenly, as I was talking to my mom, I apologized for not coming home more and I began to cry right there on the bus. I miss my mom. I feel like I have a lot to do for school and things here in Denton. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. School is going well and I enjoy the free time because I can finally get some extra rest, but I need to find a balance between it all. Matthew 11:28 says, ” Come to me, all you who are weary and I will give you rest.” God, that is what I need.
There really isn’t a whole lot of direction with this post other than: I think sometimes we I seek out things to do and get involved in, but I forget that what I really need more of is time with my family.

Surprisingly Great Weekend!

So this weekend we had 5 “Christmas Outside of the Box” Performances on Saturday and Sunday. I was completely exhausted from dress rehearsals on Thursday and Friday night, and being at the church literally ALL DAY on Saturday. Trevor was scheduled to work, so I was a little bummed.
Anyway I called him as soon as I got home and ready for bed on Saturday night a earlier than normal because I was so ready to crash. Two other people called him while we were talking, which I thought was unusual, but I was too tired to care. 30 minutes into our conversation he puts me on hold… and about 60 seconds later I look up from my bed and there he is standing right there in my room! When I realized I wasn’t dreaming, I jumped out of bed and hugged him for about 5 minutes! haha. I was SO surprised! I just couldn’t beleive it because in the back of my mind I had hoped something like this would happen, but I was like “no, he can’t becuase he has to work”.
Turns out the the two people who had called him while we were talking were my mom and the person he switched shifts with! haha. I was so happy, “You are the best Christmas Present EVER!” I told him.
Of course, I could hardly sleep that night I was so happy, and then on top of that I had stress dreams relating to the play (most of them included me forgetting my lines or something like that). Despite the worries, the production was a hit, especially the Sunday performances. I really loved being apart of it and I especially loved our family we were cast with. I am so thankful for my church family.

Proof that we were ALL exhausted on Saturday. Scott snapped a picture of Rachel face down on the couch on stage in between performances.

View of the adorable elf scene from the balcony.

Well I’m about to head out to go to my brother’s basketball game and then the two of us are going to do some Christmas shopping in Denton! I’m excited for the next couple days because after that we are going to Trevor’s soccer game tomorrow and then Southlake to see his family on Wednesday. Lots to do and lots of fun to be had! More to come but until then, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The Most Greatest Day

Yesterday was such a GREAT day for a number of reasons.:
1) I turned in my LAST Design II project EVER and people liked it= YAY! I’m done with working with powertools and sharp objects for as long as I can help it!

2) I turned in my LAST two Drawing II projects EVER!
The “triad” project was my favorite of the semester and I think I’m going to end up giving it to my friend for Christmas in a really cute frame. My friend Angela added in critique, “You can tell in your drawings that you don’t take yourself too seriously, and I like that. I think it’s a good thing.” I was like, yeah that’s pretty true. lol.
The “Time of Day” was basically a one night project. I was so ready to be done with the class I didn’t have much motivation to do it so you can tell it really wasn’t my best drawing. As we were commenting on each other’s work, a guy in my class said, “You can tell that the person who did this drawing has a really colorful and fun personality.” That made me feel pretty good about it.

3) It was really fun talking and goofing off with my friends in Drawing for the first 45 minutes or so before we started critique. I hope I see them around next semester, they are really fun and I love laughing with them.

4) After class Trevor picked me up and we went to his house to make lunch and chill for a bit. He made us some of his “famous quesadillas” haha. They were great.

5) We headed off to Southlake to spend time with his family for the evening and celebrate his mom’s birthday. I made her a card which was super cute if i do say so myself. I absolutely LOVE Trevor’s family. We hung out at the house for a bit and then went to a fancy dinner with the whole family. It was soooo good! Peyton and I got the same thing off the kids menu- Penne with Alfredo and Shrimp, YUM! Trevor wanted to share something with me too so we split a salad, hehe I thought it was cute. I feel so greatful to be apart of their family and spend time with so often. I was smiling the whole evening.

6) We finished the night off with the weekly soccer game in the Colony. Anna was there so it was fun rooting on our boys and cheering when they scored a goal. It was a good game, they won 7 to 6 with less than a minute left.

Anyway so yeah, it was just a great day. I am so relieved to be done with Design and Drawing and now I can start painting Christmas presents for people, with the occasional studying for finals in between. I don’t feel stressed about it though. I have two Quizzes tomorrow for Design and Drawing and then I’m done with those forever. I have my Art History Final Monday then History Essay Final on Wednesday. No big.

Long Time No See

Soo it has been way too long since I put any kind of update on my blog. I have been super busy with almost zero time to myself. Let me catch you up on a few things from this past month. I’m mostly going to do this through pictures considering how long this post could potentially be.

The 1st week of September, the day my 1st design project was due, I took a chunck out of my fringer with an exacto knife. It’s healing really well. 4 weeks later and I can finnally only wearing a band-aid or two. I never thought I would be so excited to wash my hands yesterday at the doctor. It was the 1st time I could wash that finger with soap and everything. haha.

The afternoon of the inncodent.

Besides injuring myself, I have been really busy with projects for Design and Drawing. I don’t have any pictures of my Drawing Stuff yet, but here are some of my Design Projects thus far… They look like nothing, but the process involved was really a lot of stuff as far as sketchbook and prototypes go.

The Assignment was to get inspiration from a 60 second peice of instrumental music. I chose the Mega Man theme.

This process involved lots of picture taking, with light drawings mostly.

I really liked the way it looked BEFORE I had to put the nylon on it, but that was part of the project.

Inspired from the color blue. Also lots of picture inspiration involved.

Close up

So yes, I’ve been doing plenty of stuff for Design. Like I siad, If I had been documenting my drawing with a scanner or something I would post those too. But they are not really that exciting anyway.

So What else is new? Hmm Trevor and I have been going to Crave at the BSM on Thursday nights. We really love it and we have a great small group there full of other Art and RTVF majors. We dig right into the word every week and after that we always have a really goot time in fellowship. We are still looking at churches. It’s been back and fourth on some weekends going from Southlake to Bridgeport and then to Denton. But we have been looking. Not sure where we belong yet, but continued prayers for guidence would be great.

Last weekend was one of the best I’ve had in quite some time. Friday night we went to the Bridgeport game and I loved seeing everyone at home. While my dad and Austin were at marching contest Saturday morning, we went to the Annual Coal Miner’s Day Festival in Bridgeport on Hassel Street with my mom. It’s a cute small town thing, hehe; we bought lots of yummy goodies and just enjoyed the morning air. In the afternoon we went to Josh and Hannah’s Wedding. OMG it was not only beautiful, but it was so good to see all of my church family together to celebrate these two families uniting. I didn’t have my camera at the wedding but my mom took some pictures afterwords of Trevor and I all dressed nice.
